I haven't compared that above sbd to the one on dead.net, but I have heard stuff streamed on dead.net that is available here in better quality. So likely there is nothing special about the one Mr. Lemieux is streaming.

I agree, some of the dead.net streams are overly compressed as witnessed by many of this years 30 days of dead songs, particularly when compared to some of the early Tapers Section offerings from 2007/2008 but it's nice to get lil nuggets every now and then. Speaking of which;

However, there was indeed plenty of tight music played on 12/31/77 at Winterland. From the first set we have The Music Never Stopped, Tennessee Jed, Funiculi Funicula, Me and My Uncle, Loser, Jack Straw. Some of this show was released as part of the excellent bonus disc “New Year's Eves at Winterland” that accompanied the Closing Of Winterland DVD in 2003.

I checked my Closing Of Winterland DVD copy for the included 12/31/77 song selections and there was no mention of this inclusion in the liner notes. Any ideas?

It's mostly free music so i'll reserve judgement and keep all expectations in check.

Perhaps Mr. Lemieux enjoys the horns.

It's a damn fine musical suite, no doubt. Just wonderin why he makes it seem so exclusive. This week only!!

Perhaps they are special because, for one week only, you can hear how it actually sounded in concert as one continuous piece of music instead of 4 or 5 gappy tracks played back via Flash?

Speaking of quality, I was enjoying part of your matrix this morning, nicely done!
